About Us
Welcome to the Enduring Friendship Mountain Bike Challenge – a celebration of endurance, history, and the enduring spirit of adventure!
Our Story
Dantak entered Bhutan in 1961 with a visionary mission – to construct roads and infrastructure that would connect and strengthen the kingdom. Over the decades, Dantak played a pivotal role in shaping Bhutan’s modern infrastructure, building the foundation for progress and growth.
In 2011, as Bhutan celebrated the Golden Jubilee marking 50 years of Dantak’s contribution to the country's development, a new chapter was written. To commemorate this monumental milestone, the Enduring Friendship Mountain Bike Challenge was born. The very roads that Dantak had constructed to connect remote villages and communities would soon become the challenging and scenic paths for cyclists to test their limits.
Who could have imagined that the roads built for infrastructure would later become the stage for one of the most thrilling and unique mountain biking events in Bhutan?
The Race
Every year since 2011, the Dantak Mountain Bike Race has been held on the Raising Day of Project Dantak, a day that marks the anniversary of Dantak’s establishment in Bhutan. Riders from across the country and beyond come together to race on the same roads that Dantak helped create, navigating through rugged mountain trails and scenic landscapes that celebrate Bhutan’s natural beauty.
Post-COVID Evolution
In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the race transitioned to a biannual event. This change ensures a safe and well-organized experience for all participants while maintaining the spirit of competition and camaraderie that the race is known for.
